A Night At The Drive-In

A Night at the Drive-In will be an event managed and driven by the local Youth Action Committee (YAC). A dedicated group of young people from the district aged between 12 - 25 years who meet regularly to discuss youth issues, help organise youth & community events within the District Council of Karoonda East Murray.

The drive-in event will be held at the Karoonda Football Oval. Utilising the large industrial shed as the screen to project the movie on to. The large open space surrounding the shed will be the allocated area where cars can park to watch the movie.

The Youth Action Committee have identified that increased social isolation during COVID19 has affected community wellbeing and resilience. This project offers a solution to some of these issues. This event will bring these people physically together to enjoy an entertainment in a group environment. The event will be delivered in a fun and inclusive way that will build the community resilience and increase social engagement.

The YAC have decided on the movie (Shrek), as well as how they would like the event to run including the set up and running of a food/candy bar zone at the event. At the beginning of the drive-in movie night the YAC will do a short presentation to the local community to welcome them to their event and give them a bit of background information about SA Youth Week 2022 and why it is so important to them and fellow youth of the district.
