If there’s a question, concern, idea, opinion or decision you want to talk about…

Why not write about it for The Smashed Avocado?

What can my submission look like?

That’s completely up to you! Check out these previous submissions.

  • You could tell us about an event or experience, a cause you’re involved in, highlight an important aspect of an issue or respond to something that has happened - like this article we posted after sexual assault allegations in parliament here.

  • This is completely up to you!

You can explore issues or tell your story in any form you would like- want to keep it conversational? Great! Prefer to say formal? That’s cool too!

You can stick to just words or you can embed images, gifs and videos if you like.

You have free reign over structure too. You can write a traditional blog post, listicle, a letter or whatever else suits you and what you’re writing about.

    • A title and an image

    • Links to more information or original sources. You don’t need references – this just makes it easy for readers to find more context

  • Want to write but not sure where to start? We can help you solidify your idea and decide on how you would like to present it.

We will also help to proof read and make editorial suggestions for each piece submitted.

    • You can criticise public figures for their actions, words and decisions but no personal attacks or hate speech will be permitted.

    • Content submitted to The Smashed Avocado needs to be your own original work.

    • Works published on The Smashed Avocado cannot be published elsewhere.

    • YACSA has final editorial control on all stories published.

Fill out the form below and we’ll be in contact as soon as possible.
